It’s been raining smartphones this week with OnePlus Nord being unveiled at a world’s first AR launch event, now comes the much popular gaming smartphone, Asus ROG Phone 3. Asus launched its first ROG Phone in the year 2018, but it came out to be a super flop because of the pricing. Lately, though Asus realized that India is a price-sensitive market and they launched the ROG 2 at a very competitive price and it went a massive hit. Now Asus is back again with the successor of the ROG series that includes a 144Hz AMOLED display, 5G-enabled Snapdragon 865+ chipset,6000mAh battery with 30W fast-charging support at a really attractive price. Let’s have an in-depth look at all of its features.
Display and Design: Gaming Inspired | Asus ROG Phone 3
Not much to talk about the design because the design looks very much similar to that of ROG 2 with big bezels on the top and bottom which makes room for dual front-firing speakers. The back sports the same heat vent, RGB-lit ROG logo, and gorilla glass 3 protection on the rear. This time too it comes with an In-display fingerprint scanner thanks to its 6.59-inch FHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 270Hz touch sampling rate protected by gorilla glass 6. The panel boasts a 20:9 aspect ratio, 2340 x 1080 pixels resolution, and supports HDR 10+.
Processor, Ram & Storage: Fastest You can get | Asus ROG Phone 3
The ROG phone 3 comes with Snapdragon 865+ which is a 5G enabled 7nm Octa-core processor clocked at 3.1Ghz and can offer download speeds up to 3.38Gbps on a 5G network. The chipset is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 Ram and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. This is a dual sim device with no option for the expansion of memory.
Operating System: Asus ROG Phone 3 | No Ads Though
The ROG Phone comes with ROG UI on top of Android 10 that is an ad-free and bloat-free user interface.
Cameras: Any Special This Time Asus?
The ROG phone 3 has not compromised on cameras and offers a triple camera this time with a 64MP (f/1.8) Sony IMX686 sensor. There’s a 13MP (f/2.5) ultra-wide camera with a 125-degree FOV and a 5MP macro camera onboard as well. It supports up to 8K video, 4K slow-mo video recording, and a Pro mode. Front cameras include a 24MP camera that is present in the bezel itself.
Battery and Charging: The Big Thumb Battery
The ROG phone 3 comes equipped with a mammoth 6000mAh battery bag and also equips a 30W charger which Asus claims can juice up 75 percent (around 4,510mAh) battery in just 46 minutes.
What’s so special in Asus ROG Phone 3??
Some of the extra features that the Nord comes with are NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and NavIC. It does not come with wireless charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an IP rating. But it has got some serious gaming features. First of all it arrives with the 3rd-gen GameCool system which sports a 6x larger heatsink, redesigned Copper 3D vapor chamber, and a larger graphite film for superior cooling.
ROG Phone 3 now also supports “swiping” and “dual partition” functions on the Air triggers which lets you swipe right or left on each Air Trigger to perform 2 additional actions which means that now you can have five touch inputs via the Air Triggers and if you want even more then you can divide the length of the Air Trigger into two buttons virtually and get four buttons at the top while playing in landscape mode. Like the ROG 2, the ROG 3 also continues to offer additional ports on the edge of the ROG Phone 3. It includes a side-mounted USB Type-C port, as usual, to connect accessories and the charging cable when you use the phone in landscape mode.
The one thing that’s missing though which every gamer wants is a 3.5mm audio jack and that is missing here. But Asus knows that and so it’s bundling the AeroActive Cooler 3 with ROG Phone 3 to not only bring back the 3.5mm jack but also further lower the temperature by 4-degree Celcius.
